Alpine tradition, design and wellness in the mountains
In the heart of Livigno, just a few steps from the ski lifts and shopping streets, Hotel La Montanina is an example of contemporary Alpine hospitality. Managed by the sisters Simona, Valentina and Giovanna Martinelli Silvestri, the hotel blends the history of a mountain house dating back to 1954 with modern comforts, renovating its spaces to offer an authentic and rejuvenating stay. The property features warm and welcoming rooms, a restaurant celebrating Valtellina flavors, and a 200 sqm spa, the beating heart of the renovation.
THE PROJECT
The restyling of La Montanina has done more than renew the hotel’s appearance: it has reinterpreted its true Alpine soul.
Solid wood, exposed beams and natural materials coexist with contemporary furnishings, while the spa becomes a sensory journey of hot and cold.
Designed by Sanae with architect Alberto Buffolino and general contractor Concreta, the wellness area blends tradition and modern technology: Finnish sauna, steam bath with finishes inspired by traditional ceramics, refreshing showers, an ice basin housed in a traditional stube-möbel, and a relaxation pool on the panoramic terrace.
Every detail recalls mountain homes, from aged wood walls to custom-made artisanal furniture.
